At age 19, Billy signed his first recording contract with his group, Serenity, after being discovered while opening for the Mississippi Mass Choir as a student at Louisiana Tech University. By age 21, he found himself homeless on the streets of 5th Ward, in a gang and drug-infested neighborhood in Houston, TX. Sleeping on cardboard boxes and eating out of trash cans while battling crippling depression and suicidal thoughts, Billy refused to succumb to the darkness around him. Read more…
